Our analysis covers job market trends, skills demand, education requirements, experience requirements, seniority levels, salary insights, and location trends. The goal is to provide job seekers, graduates, students, and professionals with practical insights into how the job market is evolving.

What We Found in Lesotho
Our first nationwide analysis of Lesotho's job market provides a snapshot of employer demand between July 2025 and July 2026. The report examines which occupations were advertised most frequently, the skills employers requested, education and experience requirements, and where job opportunities were concentrated across the country. It also highlights emerging job titles and changing hiring patterns throughout the year.
Driver, Sales Agent, Accountant, Receptionist, Procurement Officer, and Graphic Designer were among the most frequently advertised occupations, showing strong demand across transport, business, retail, and administrative sectors.
The analysis also identified several new job titles that only appeared during the second half of the study period, including Secretary, Nail Technician, ICT Technician, Data Engineer, Office Cleaner, and Traffic Safety Officer. While it is too early to determine whether these represent long-term trends, they may indicate new employment opportunities emerging within the country.
Employers consistently looked for transferable workplace skills such as communication, project management, problem solving, computer literacy, Microsoft Office, accounting, and sales. These skills appeared across a wide range of occupations, suggesting they remain valuable regardless of industry. The most frequently requested degree fields included Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Nursing, and Marketing, highlighting the qualifications currently attracting the greatest employer demand.
What We Found in South Africa
South Africa's larger dataset provides an even broader picture of hiring activity. It explores monthly hiring trends, occupations with the highest demand, emerging and declining skills, experience and qualification requirements, salary patterns, and regional hiring activity across the country.

The data also shows that some occupations experienced noticeable growth during the analysis period. Software Developers, Business Managers, Home Loan Consultants, and several other technology and business-related roles increased their share of job advertisements.
Hiring activity was particularly strong in Sales & Business Development, Banking, Insurance & Financial Services, Hospitality, Food & Tourism, Healthcare & Medical, Retail & Wholesale, and Engineering & Manufacturing. These industries consistently accounted for a significant share of advertised vacancies throughout the year.
Beyond occupations, the skills employers requested also reveal where the market is heading. Microsoft Excel, programming, project management, Power BI, networking, SAGE, and Pastel remained among the most sought-after skills, while newer technologies such as Xero, Jira, ERP platforms, Laravel, and scripting skills emerged as growing requirements.
Looking Ahead
This report represents the first year of Career Agent's job market analysis. While one year of data already provides valuable insights, it is not enough to draw long-term conclusions about labour market behaviour.
As we continue collecting data each year, we will be able to identify long-term employment trends, seasonal hiring patterns, changes in skills demand, and shifts across industries with greater confidence. Our future reports will also introduce AI-powered forecasting models capable of predicting emerging careers, growing skills, future hiring demand, and salary trends before they become obvious.
